This movie is wholly underrated. The main cast is outstanding, and the score by Damon Albarn/Nyman is really something.

Amazing article, thank you for writing it. This movie was huge for me as a youth and it brings me a lot of joy when anyone else recognizes it.

That's basically irrelevant to the original point, which is that this song is clearly influenced by them. I'm not even saying this is a bad thing, but it is what it is.

Well then I guess i'll see you in court.

Case in point.

I get what you mean, but if you think Beck hasn't been paying attention to what has been going on with those bands (among others) for the past few years, you are sorely mistaken. Beck has always had a tendency to reflect back whatever it is he's been hearing, and this isn't really any different.

I like the music, it's fun and bouncy, but the lyrics are sort of pedestrian ("she’s making me high"? oof). About a minute too long as well. Sounds like he taking a lot of cues from both MGMT and Tame Impala.

Tom Courtenay, Pablo & Andrea, From A Motel 6. Best songs ever.
