I'm not even American, let alone republican.

Any parent who claims that their child never got into a dangerous situation is a pathological liar, frankly. A parent you does their best, but you can't control circumstances 100% of the time. This is because children are human beings, not robots.
You're "basing" your assumption that I "let" my toddler "wander" into traffic based on the fact that I wrote that my toddler once ran into traffic. Because you're an asshole who doesn't understand that even when parents do their best, they can't guarantee that a toddler won't suddenly break loose that one time.
No, I didn't "let" my toddler "wander" into traffic. Do you feel delusional pretending you know everything? Like you seriously think that (if you became a parent) your child would NEVER do something dangerous on the spur of the moment? Seriously, get over yourself. You're delusional and self-righteous.
Nope. I'm actually a really good parent. And I didn't make excuses for my parenting or imply that anyone else was a bad parent. I merely pointed out that it's obvious that you're not a parent yourself because you seem to think that if you hold a toddler's hand, there's no way they could ever get loose.
It shows that you don't have children and have no experience with childcare.
Do you really think this person "allowed" their child to run out into traffic? What should she have done? Kept her toddler in a pet-carrier at all times?
This is me! I'm like, I don't believe in spanking, it doesn't work, let's all talk to our kids and teach them lessons, blah blah blah. But the time my toddler ran out into traffic, I lost my shit. Also, when my toddler was just about to put a fork into a socket, I was across the room like a vampire slapping him away…
Major citation needed for your comment because it contradicts reality. Most kids who are not white are going to have to deal with racism from a very young age. Non-white kids don't have the luxury of living in a bubble.
I think in the past, Disney could cater to white American kids and get away with it. But now, we're living in a global culture and the American demographic is shifting, so it would be in their best interest as a company to include more diversity in all areas.
Really? I've heard lots of kids point out racist stuff in Disney. What kind of kids are you hanging out with?
Well, I'm definitely making pie and roasting the seeds. Who among my fellow countrymen will be brave enough to try it?
Why would it be wrong for people of Spanish descent to want their own Disney princess, though? I'm still holding out for a Polish princess. It's not like Disney can only do one non-Anglo character. They could stand to include more diversity all around.
Ok, but neither a Hispanic, a Spanish or a Latin* princess would look like that Sofia cartoon, who looks Swedish. I mean, a person in any of those groups could look like that because genes are a funny thing and people move around the planet quite a bit....but it's not likely. That cartoon would not be a good…
Oh damn. She is very Northern European-looking. Damn it, Disney. Get your shit together and deliver a Hispanic princess.
I thought Sofia the first was supposed to be the Hispanic princess? But don't quote me on that because I haven't actually watched the show or done any real research into this question.
Please, animation gods, may Disney have actually hired some Polynesian writers and consultants so that the script won't be offensive. Amen.
Ha! I literally met one of those earlier today under the handle jennasmith. As he was making his case against me by saying that I must be ugly, old and in need of sex because I disagreed with him, all I could picture was one of those Swedish weight-lifting-obsessed boy trolls typing.
omg there are so many of these brobots on Jezebel lately under feminine handles. And their main talking points seem to be 1. Jez is mean to the menz, 2. What about the menz?, 3. Women lie about rape to ruin men's lives and 4. Every embryo is sacred.
