There are teenagers and children who follow the Kardashians on social media. Why do you think the very young Kylie and Kendall have become so popular lately? Many of these minors who look up to the Kardashians are genuinely ignorant about this type of advertising.
Yeah, that totally makes it okay.
Fucking of course they are. I doubt they eat or wear anything without being paid for it. They’re Kardashians.
No one has a problem with taking down Caitlyn Jenner over her political beliefs etc. The tweet implied her gender identity was a publicity stunt. It is never cool to disrespect a person’s gender identity.
She’s been around for a long time and people who’ve grown up with her have a lot of affection for her because she’s been part of the background of our lives as we’ve aged, and much like Cher, she’s funny, self deprecating, gave good talk show appearances, if your knowledge of Bette Midler is limited to chick flicks…
She’s a talented singer and showman, in addition to being a pretty okay comedy actress. Her appeal is that she has talent to back up her celebrity, which is a lot more than Caitlyn Jenner can say.
She used to do raunchy comedy in gay bathhouses before she went big. I think she’s always been a comedian, but had that overshadowed with some of the drama she’s done (The Rose, Beaches) from time to time. But still primarily a comedian (e.g. The First Wives Club, The Stepford Wives).
This is like a loop de loop. People telling Bette Midler to get educated about trans rights because she tweeted about Caitlyn Jenner, when Caitlyn Jenner was once a wealthy white Republican man who is now a wealthy white Republican woman who herself needs to be educated about LGBTQ rights...*shakes head* Anyway the…
Still not quite the 90s. But perhaps the origin story for this obsession.
It isn’t underwear - it is leotard bottoms, or like..cheerleader spankies. When I took tap/jazz as a kid, we had them (not high cut, not thong) and would wear them over our tights to keep them up, with a t-shirt or a regular shirt on top.
I was in college from 90-94 and my roommate and I took up aerobics at the local gym. We both went out and bought a ton of leotard over pants outfits, as well as pants, weird underwear to go over the pants, and then a crop top tank top to go with it. We thought we were awesome. Oh and these leotards and over-pant…
Jane Fonda. By way of Gilda Marx. I’m serious.
Oh, I feel so rotten. You beat me to it.
Love this. Which reminds me: See Keanu if you haven’t done so already—it’s great.
At least these don’t look as bad as The FIRM videos from the mid to late 80s. Plenty of thick gold chains, too-short shorts (for the men), too much hair (for everyone—big hair was the style!), and questionable techniques for some of the moves. But at least the women used larger weights.
Not quite the 90's
The underwear-over-pants look boggles my mind to this day?? Who started this? Who popularized it? Is this how the modern underwear shape come about? I demand answers!
Oof, those color contrasts. Also, was the whole Superman-esque “wear a bottom over athletic pants” just fashion, or was it a way to avoid having a potentially visible vulva outline?
