Daddy Digital told me around age 6 that they named themselves after the fruit spreads of a band member’s grandmother Pearl. I don’t know if this was a Calvin’s Dad fabrication, a repeated rumor, or a cover story for the horrible truth.

I read my parents’ copy of that. I don’t know which of them acquired it, or why.

My go-to euphemistic interjection is “Mother Courage!”, sometimes followed by “and All Her Children!”

I like that the owner is “SORTA.” That acronym inspires confidence.

“Allahu Akbar down the flight path I must travel…”

And I love the goddamn stuff. Skyline coneys were a favorite of mine growing up near Louisville, and I make a knockoff recipe at home now that I’m in the Empire State.

I was going to see Toadies, Butthole Surfers, and Reverend Horton Heat at the Louisville Palace with Daddy Digital in the ’90s, and it was cancelled, possibly because that rather ostentatious venue’s management was concerned about hosting such a crowd.
