The Atom saying "I'm going to lay here for a while, Katie. I'm old now, and I get tired." may be one of my favorite quotes from the series. Also the end of the episode sets up Shayera/Aquaman/Fate/Amazo as the DCAU Defenders, right?

Fools, the lot of them.

This is a fun episode, but something about Batman saying he hasn't been a kid since he was 8 always felt a little forced to me. It seems a little repetitive, especially for longtime fans of the DCAU.

It just happened…

now that we've started JLU, something this episode hints at is a theme i've thought about before and that will become much bigger in the next season: basically every non-powered hero featured in the first two seasons of JLU (Bats, Question, Arrow, Huntress, Wildcat… Black Canary?) had this deep-seated distrust of

I would say that the first season is better than Justice League's first. It's the first time the DCAU tried a season-long story arc, we get to explore Neo-Gotham and try out a new art style. It fades a bit in the 2nd and 3rd seasons, but there's still some good stuff there.

Didn't Bat's say that he'd break the Joker in two? Such a creepy line because he says it so quietly.

"I'm also inclined to think that she exaggerated to mess with Terry's head."

His final episode in Batman Beyond's first season more than makes up for that letdown.

The Darkseid stuff was pretty great, though. As was "The Late Mr. Kent," or whatever it's name was.

This isn't the strongest closer, but it's interesting that they chose to close with Dent. Considering that Harvey is introduced in the very first episode of B:TAS, you really get to see his full character arc. It's actually not that different from the Nolan movies, going from idealist to broken man, murderer, and

@DollarBillWirtz "Oops, fell in love again, what am I gonna tell my friends… it just happened."

No one even thinks to ask… the Question.

As did Batman Beyond (schway).

Tank Girl!!

Basically, this is an awesome episode, O.S. hit all the right notes, and if you don't like it, you probably won't like anything that rocks.

The Batman Annual where Batman meets Jason Blood, and they team up against the al Ghuls, is also really worth checking out to get a sense of why Bruce and Jason are so excited to see each other.

Also, the change in art styles isn't so jarring in the comic. It would be difficult to do old style B:TAS for the flashback and then go to the new style at the end.
