BIG! You gotta think… BIG!
BIG! You gotta think… BIG!
Chay-Ara's dead eyes were just too much for me. Apparently it was the work of Lauren Montgomery, who's done a bunch of other great stuff (including Korra!).
Perhaps those possibilities never occurred to Wally. But couldn't it also be true that Wally has the wisdom not to use his abilities in those ways? He is a police scientist in the DCAU, after all.
I think the method in which Devil Ray is killed also made a big difference in Batman's reaction. People have died around him in previous DCAU episodes, but never by use of a gun.
I haven't watched this episode in a couple of years, but I fondly remember that flashback, and looking up the Viking Prince. It's a style that never seems dated; but it was a wise choice not to fully animate it. I remember listening to the commentary for "Legends of the Dark Knight" and how they originally planned to…
Could've been great: the Greg Weisman Story.
This is the episode where, upon seeing Shayera's dress, Jon shouts, "Judas Priest!" right? I think following a personal story, like Shayera and Jon's journey to being reunited (?), as opposed to some major battle as a follow-up to Cadmus was a great idea. As much as the previous season rocked, other storylines got…
Didn't McDuffie say that this season is all about Luthor? Sort of puts an interesting spin on things, to put so much focus on the villains, especially the finale.
Mad Stan! One of the greatest characters of a show that (maybe) deserves to be covered by TV Club Classic.
True, but by stopping everyone, he was opening up the possibility (to me, at least) that he could be wrong, which is a huge step for the character.
The shot of Flash finally reaching his full speed potential, the camera zooming out, and Wally becoming a pure red blur has got to be on the best sequences ever in the DCAU, and definitely one of the few instances where any tv episode has brought me to tears. So, so good.
Also Wonder Woman's reaction is hilarious. This part of the episode also kind of makes me wish Batman had really left the League after the Doomsday Sanction. Seeing him (and presumably, his team) quietly investigate Cadmus and the League and broker power deals would have been awesome.
"If you’re feeling guilty, clear your own name."
Or he's collecting all the pieces from Question and has figured out a reasonable plan of attack?
This is as good a place as any to mention my dream that I shared with Oliver on twitter yesterday: a new beyond series post-Bruce’s death with Alfred as a sort of AI adviser.
I think I read (or heard in a commentary) that the original plan for the next season of S:TAS was for Supes to rebuild his relationship with the world. I think it works better hinted at, i.e., the first episode of Justice League.
You guys forgot one of Luthor's best lines: "Foolish faceless man. My campaign is a farce."
the disabled version of Kragger is rather horrifying (he sort of reminds me of Bane's final fate in Batman Beyond). Between that and the way J'onn has been treating people, they really built up just how scary an individual he can be.
I like that even though Bats has it all figured out, he doesn't tell the other original members what's going on just yet. Based on what has happened with Supes and Shayera in the past, he can't be sure to trust them.
Speaking of DCAU news, RIP Efrem Zimbalist Jr.
