Damn this makes me want to dust off my Dreamcast. I loved Crazy Taxi, Soul Caliber, Skies of Arcadia and Shenmue. There were some truly innovative games.

I’m fascinated by this. If I’m translating it right, that book title is something like, “For us, lots of stuff is unnecessary” or more succinctly, “We don’t need a bunch of stuff.” Frugality and minimalism is fine and dandy but the above examples are pretty extreme...

Totally agree - I love my futon! And so does my back.

My theory: McDonald’s plans to compete this year with the Japanese Christmas tradition of getting KFC for dinner. Which I would fully support here, if KFC here was as good as in Japan.

Deadspin continues to impress me with its reporting. You people are doing a great job with this, keep at it!

If Lyft is better, why are drivers driving for both? Is it because of Uber’s surge pricing? I took an Uber ride to and from a party in Milwaukee, and my returning driver said he stays on until 4 am because the rates go through the roof around and after bar close. He makes enough on Friday and Saturday nights to take

And I thought the X books were needlessly complicated...

There are a lot of elements of a crime that need to be met in order to charge someone with a crime and expect a reasonable chance of conviction. If they’d charged her with DUI, that would be hard to prove without a blood-alcohol or field sobriety test. I’m a bit surprised they didn’t charge her with erratic driving

Yeah, and not just dating - it seems to be key in making friends too. I guess it's about familiarity?

Ah, second location theory. That’s always key. I have no idea why, but I find I’ve gotten dates with women when I run into them in a second location. Such as, see the same person in yoga class three times, run into her in the super market, and in the super market is where we strike up a decent conversation. Facebook

Hey, I like that! They could call it a spirit tax that they deduct from the players’ salaries. It could be handled right through payroll.

Dante: Come on, Skeleton Warrior, just wrangle out the door for me.

I tell people, “Have you ever seen a vertical TV? Then why would you turn your phone that way?”

“Back in my day, we didn’t have no fancy click bait where all you had to do was click a link and it took you there. Why, we had to buy a strategy guide - that’s right, a print book - for our click bait. You kids are so spoiled nowadays!” *shakes cane*

Singed first edition available on Amazon for a cool 50 bones! Now, who do I hate...

This is great, because whenever I see someone wearing a sports jersey, I think "See, they like cosplay too!" I'm able to nerd out about sports and RPGs because both have a narrative behind the action. Each player has a backstory and a series of struggles and triumphs they've experienced leading toward the "big game."

I think it's really sad when a game developer can't bring her team to a convention out for fear for their safety. This bullshit harassment needs to stop, and fellow gamers need to take stand against assholes who need to threaten people just because they disagree with them.

I agree with this - I first played DOA 2 and remember being really surprised at how nuanced it was (as someone who trains Aikido, it was nice to see some reversals featuring Aikido-like techniques!) Team ninja is great at creating sexy characters but it's unfortunate that they overshadow what is one of the better

late to the party, I know, but I'm reading The Old Man and the Wasteland by Nick Cole. The adventures of an old salvager in a post-apocalyptic world. Good stuff!

Yeah, totally. In Japan you would just roll it up in your hand, and chomp away.
