I think it's a valid concern, I don't know if you come from any of the cultures who originally used it, but you could probably say that it DID belong to specific cultures, until it spread.

I mostly agree, but having been in meetings with both types of decision makers, the ones who are able to look at what actually needs to be done, and do it, without needing to stick with what's comfortable or usual or fits in with regulations (when they aren't important) ARE the better decision makers.
