At a good school (and at the graduate level, where its not just introduction courses for people that need to fill a requirement), communications studies is the theory of how information is transmitted, and how people receive it. It absolutly will include critical theory from philosophy and literature fields when its

Yeah, I mean as this guy mentions in his video, he has a producer... which means he’s giving someone a job.

I mean I’m not a fan, he reminds me of a talk radio host... but heck, if that’s a job why isn’t what he’s doing?

My parents did this... and I can attest that looking back I really value these serious conversations and learning-discussions that were had.

Oh my... that’s so incredibly savage. Hahahaha

I am not, but I appreciate the suggestion. Googling it now. :)

Did you ever try Company of Heroes? It’s an RTS, so you’re missing the map component of Total War, but I was a big fan. They really have some nice mechanics with “pinning” down units with say machine guns or mortars, and then you can sweep in with a second group to mop up.

It inspires the thinking “I wonder if DHL actually jut sells t-shirts themselves?”

In the course of school research, I came across architectural design guidelines for American“women’s health clinics,” and they were really upsetting. It detailed how the space should be adapted to have secure screening areas for guests, and that even if bullet-proof glass exists one should not forget to also ensure

GoT as international development policy.

If you’re a fan of Nils Frahm, he scored a great German film last year named “Victoria,” which is a 2.5 hour long one-shot heist film set in Berlin. Really amazing soundtrack, with a heroic camera-man; would recommend.

“Things were better back in the day....” *forgets all the terrible things, thinks only of childhood*

When your kids are the right age (late highschool) look into the United World Colleges... they do charge tuition (based on parents income), but its much lower than normally it would be, and it’s not a “private school.”

I think the same thing happens with minorities... I’ve heard “half the class was foreign students” comment, when like statistically at the school they made up of about 15% of the student body.

I think it also explains why “diversity” seems to be a low bar... like 2, or 3 minorities and people perceive the group to be

Canada is strange (I say as a Canadian), because its cities are incredibly diverse, but once you leave them you hit areas that are like 95% white. It’s also weirdly suspicious of foreigners/expats, such as last summer when expats who had lived outside the country for 5 years had their voting rights removed – and that

Yeah, they’re very much characters in a comic-book universe, but not really interesting in the way that superheroes are. In contrast, the “police drama” genre is super well developed at this point with some amazing series out there... and so “Agents of Shield” just feels immaturely written to me. In contrast “Agent

Yeah, all the characters seemed both hostile and rather incompetent... with “keeping dangerous secrets” being the narrative device that seemed to drive everything. Apparently no one in Shield has background checks or psychological tests, and Coulson always reminded me of an annoying middle-management boss who has his

Somehow it felt like the anime trope of the brash, immature main character who matures over the length of the show; unfortunately those people are really annoying in real life, and the likeable parts of the character never really seemed to shine through, or justify the negative parts of the character. At least they

As a foreigner, I figured that there probably weren’t that many actual Trump supporters.... just real crazies, like people who believe in Reptilians and also stockpile MREs so they can survive the EMP blasts...

How many people seem to know people who are genuine Trump supporters... is horrifying.

There’s the simple background check where they just run your name through the system (like what would happen at an airport), but a proper criminal record check involves fingerprints that get matched against the FBI database. This costs money, and a few weeks for results... in NYC at least, I assume the same in Texas
