Even with engines out there, just coming up with an original idea is a lot of work. You are missing the point of these hacks, people do them because they love the ip. They love Mario, Zelda, etc and their passion for those ips is what fuels their project. It’s like how kids used to write letters to Nintendo with ideas

OP is joking. Femshep’s fanbase is very vocal about their preference. Surprisingly, though, they are a very small group according to Bioware’s data.

I do this, too, especially with MMOs. I see graphics like this and get nostalgic. It’s why I booted up the original Sims a while ago, even though Sims 3 and 4 are vastly superior in terms of graphics.

Honestly, I think games nowadays age way faster than those from the old days. Ever since we moved towards 3D, graphics get outdated in a matter of months and last gen was a prime example of that. Take any game that was considered beautiful at the time and chances are it looks horribly outdated by now. This I think

Damn, Jason! Back at it again with delaying games.

.

Mine was something like this:

....What?

Oh no, I wouldn’t recommend expecting an open world like Skyrim or anything of that sort. But the idea that now there are specialized pokemon for travel, like using sharpedos to surf, makes me think it might give you some freedom when it comes to visiting the islands.

I think in some ways you might get your wish granted in Sun/Moon. The games seem to be moving away from gyms and hms.

I guess completing the pokedex the normal way wasn’t tedious enough.

Well it was either that or he wouldn’t be able to do it at all.

“These extra mechanics (along with, imo, worse writing) are the reason I don’t think any newer games will ever surpass the original Ace Attorney trilogy.”

I finished case 2 and they do use it.

A million times this. Witcher’s 3 sidequests were so good not because they gave you amazing rewards or opened up the main story. They were good, because they were usually pretty interesting self contained stories that expanded the world and narrative. You wanted to do them, because they were fun not because you had

I think my issue is with how you have to grind to unlock the interesting parts of the game. And I don’t mean grind in terms of having to level up to deal with the challenges. No, you have do to a lot of meaningless tasks in order to unlock the main story missions and that just gets tedious.

Absolutely. I think DA:I’s biggest strength is seeing how the choices you made in previous games, molded the world.

Yeah, I think DA:I’s problem is that while it has a lot of content, very little of it is interesting.

I can’t quite tell because I didn’t play it on a system with time tracker and most of those saves are gone by now. My longest playthrough was probably the first one as I tried to do everything in that one. But playtime varied greatly depending on the playthrough. There were some short ones that were meant to explore

I have a weird relationship with that game. When I first played it, I was hooked. Then I finished it and I can’t for the life of me go back to it. Which is weird because with DA:O I had over 7 playthroughs.
