Seriously, OC. Just do what all the rich actor kids’ parents I knew did: buy your child’s way into The New School, because apparently that doesn’t work at NYU anymore.

Actors are stupid. Children of actors are often stupider.

I teach in the LA area. College. This is so damn frustrating for me. I teach at a low tier CSU with students who were often told not to attend college, or that they wouldn’t/couldn’t succeed at college, etc.

First difference being that they actually CALL themselves that—regardless of whether they are really influencing anyone— and that it seems to be an acceptable ‘profession’ in and of itself.

I was thinking the same thing. $15,000 has to buy you one hell of an SAT tutor, and $500,000 probably buys plenty of personalized tutoring and coaching...

From a followup AP story:

Exactly. Also, wouldn’t they know what the admissions standards for the school were, and be confused about why they got in when their grades didn’t match up? These kids must have had some inkling. But, either they think that’s how it works because their parents have been making all sorts of things happen for them

Legitimate question after reading this article and several others. All the articles indicate the students were “unaware their college admissions were premised on a bribe.” Okay, fine. But as a 17 or 18 year old, wouldn’t you be aware that it is unusual that someone is in the testing room with you giving you help and

This is the nouveau riche version of notorious “legacy admissions” that the dimwitted offspring of wealthy families have depended upon forever (see Bush, George W., Trump, Allof’em, and Kushner, Jared). Spoiled brats and the parents who spoil them. I never want to hear another word about Affirmative Action for

I’m shocked. You mean rich, white kids don’t earn their spots into Ivy League schools? I thought they were supposed to be filled with the best and brightest who pulled themselves up by their boot straps. Those schools aren’t bastions of meritocracy? Lol I love how people complain about affirmative action but don’t say

The funny thing is, if a black person works their ass off to get into a school, racists will yell about affirmative action. MEANWHILE.........

The thing I think about is: What if two people were charged with Jussie’s “attack”? He would likely have sat back and let the lives of two people be irrevocably changed for something that didn’t happen. All for what? More money? Better storylines? A profile raise?

I realize the post is tongue-in-cheek, but any unnecessary coverage of Koch Industries’ consumer products gets me like candy foil on a cavity.

I never thought I’d see Jezebel endorsing BRAWNY of all brands (a product of Koch Industries’ Georgia Pacific division). This is a pinkwashing PR stunt that will put a few pennies more towards advocating against women’s rights.

The stretch mark thing is the absolute worst of the bunch. Ugh. Using IWD as a launch for your product aimed at women’s insecurities about a completely natural and universal skin trait is a special kind of cruel and stupid.

You know how he gets when he drinks...”

The military has a major rape problem and the way it handles it is to sweet it under the rug and shame women into silence. If I had a dollar for every time I heard someone say ‘He’s a good man, this will ruin his career!’ or some variation on that... I wouldn’t be poor.

Hillary’s response to Donald’s Tweet was magic:

Yes, I saw a tweet that said that - watching him scream at Gayle is one thing. Now replace Gayle with a teenaged girl who hasn’t seen her family in a year and it’s even more horrifying.

He frightened me in the interview.  If anyone wondered what these girls and young women went through, we got a pretty good look at it.
