I take the example of Franklin from Peanuts. Charles Schulz wasn't "making a statement" when he drew a black character into the strip. No fanfare, no hoopla (and this was 1968.) Charlie Brown just met a new friend when his beach ball got away from him on the beach.

They were mine from the 80s. Carl Barks's Donald Duck and Uncle Scrooge are the ones I'm enjoying the most.

You know, I don't get why everything suddenly has to have a gay character in it. Is it ratings/sales desperation? Is it to seem edgy or up to date or still relevant? Either way, it always comes across as a cheap publicity stunt.

The current crop of Superhero movies are all pretty much just fap material for CGI enthusiasts. On the bright side, they give the fine folks at Rifftrax plenty of material to work with.

My wife and I buy the Sunday paper for the coupons and flyers and recycle the propaganda. We always come out far ahead of the game so it works for us.
