Strangely, I like wired controllers better than wireless. In fact, I'd like to actually get a wired 360 controller instead of the battery eating wireless one I use now.
To put it bluntly ... because they can. As xcalibr mentioned, it's part of the way to lower the cost of the console and make it up on the accessories. Also, lack of good third party controllers in the past have made consumers more apt to be brand loyal to the 1st party accessories.
Hear hear! As someone who studied comp sci in college (and later got out of programming for regular IT) I know how much of a pain programming can be even with today's relatively endless memory and processing power. The programmers of yesterday did a great job of knowing where to cut corners and I think they did a…
I agree. In my experience working for both small business, government (a college) and corporate the small business owner only gave medical to himself and his wife while the rest of us were hired part time. Believe me, if he could avoid paying us minimum wage, he would have.

In the old days we'd make Ghost backups of drives and keep data on a separate drive. As far as a regular updating, you've got me.
So my wife and I just put in an offer on a house. We low-balled a little based on her asking price. We ended up offering $23K less than the asking price due to a bunch of issues we had such as we would have to repave the driveway, add supports to the deck, finish the basement (there's a random toilet in the middle of…
At work a department of union workers went through a whole bunch of changes and basically to placate them, the company bought them all new chairs. Most of their old ones were just fine so employees were allowed to save them from the dumpster. I took one and outside of a coffee stain, it's fine. We may reupholster it…

I hear ya! My wife and I are looking in Massachusetts and while there is some new construction, it's really the exception and not the rule. New houses get built when old ones burn down. :-/
