That’s a good story; is it a Star Wars story? I don’t think it is. At its core, fantasy is almost always about maintaining hope against unspeakable odds. “Never tell me the odds.”

Oh, haha, that’s what I get for forgetting to check timestamps. I hate that when articles are reposted, the comments roll over as well.

Slight pacing spoilers for ya, nothing story related; ignore me if you mind that sort of thing.

Villentretenmerth! (And his lovely ladies.)

Based on the books. Andrzej Sapkowski himself is a creative consultant for the show. They haven’t said if they’ll begin with the short stories or the novels, but presumably they’ll have to begin with the short stories. If they adapt one story per episode, and presumably have some original episodes as well, that gives

That’s... huh, that’s super interesting. I’ve long made the connection between King Arthur and Geralt of Rivia (in Lady of the Lake, it’s almost impossible not to), but never thought to make the connection between hardboiled detectives and the knights-errant. Geralt is Sapkowski’s somewhat modernized take on the

Just curious, but have you read the books? Politics, kings and queens, war across the continent... those are an enormous part of the plot of the entire series. Like, there wouldn’t be a Witcher Saga without the politics and war that goes on. Now Geralt isn’t directly involved with that, and he shouldn’t be, but it

Only if you consider Conan the Barbarian a middle-school-fanfic protagonist. And, well I’m not going to say that you aren’t allowed to have that opinion, but... some opinions are dumb, and that’s one of them. Geralt is a classic Sword & Sorcery protagonist. A little bit of wish fulfillment, but he’s constantly thrown

What are you talking about? LitRPG as a genre is well known for its depth of plot and compelling narrative...

Yeah, I never saw the movie but I recently read the book, and.... wow, that was bad. Just, really quite awful. I don’t want a journalism game, I mean the book as it is doesn’t translate well to a video game anyways, but I would love an adaptation more faithful to the world.

Powerful? Are you kidding? Gosh, I wish her story was powerful. As it was, I didn’t even care about the story. Who cares about Zelda when you’re shield surfing and playing dress up with Link? The strength of BotW’s storytelling was solely environmental: learning about the demolition of Hyrule was really neat. But it

Aww, babe. ;)

I... I loved mid game. And early game. And the ending. I loved the whole thing.

PA has always had a way with words. Their games are something special.

The hero we need...

Came here for this. Wasn’t disappointed.

I have no idea how well it aged. Nostalgia vision is a terrible thing. But if you can find a copy on the cheap, (or emulated) I bet it’ll be a fun couple of hours.

Yup. I’d argue it best captures the feel of what the Hobbit ought to have been while still being its own thing. It did take a lot of freedoms with the story, as I recall, which is probably why it’s not usually rated higher. I manage to be an enormous book nerd and still love it.

Gal Gadot might actually be Wonder Woman.

Ha! That brings me back to my RP. I got super into forums, but I think the best roleplay I ever had was in a Minecraft server, actually. That must’ve been around middle school.
