I’m playing through FFVIII right now (and loving it, despite the internet) and I’ve noticed a couple of things that stand out. No VA protagonist, pre-rendered backgrounds, and proper atmosphere (I heard the phrase “baroque futuristic motif” online and I love it).

Silent FF games are awesome. Don’t get me wrong, I love the new ones to death, but there’s just something about that scrolling text. Probably shitloads of nostalgia. Yup, yeah, that’s what it is. I still love it.

I figured this was another SJW click bait piece, and I’m glad that I was wrong. Cook has a great stance and I really feel like she’s going to start changing some public opinion, even if it’s very slow. Great piece, thanks for bringing it up. I’d love to see a follow up someday.
