I respectfully disagree with you. I think that the idea that economic issues are at the root of racism and misogyny is not only foolish and simplistic, but has invariably been used — often explicitly — by some people on the left as an excuse for putting those issues in the back seat as a practical matter. Not to

Jon Stewart is a brocialist at best and I’m not willing to hold him up as any kind of savior of the progressive left considering he spent his tenure on the Daily Show giving on-air handjobs to douchebags like Bill O’Reilly. He doesn’t get credit for snickering behind their back when he glad-hands them when they show

Saying he doesn’t belong to a party or maybe like socialism is not remotely close to being an “avowed Socialist”. Since he literally says he doesn’t belong to a party, it’s the exact opposite of being avowed. Words have meanings (except “neo-liberal” which is a meaningless term brocialists use to let us know they are

Those comparisons are super stretched. She mentioned the inauguration, we mentioned the inauguration! That can’t be a coincidence! She made a joke about Anthony Weiner and North Korea, we made completely separate and unrelated jokes about North Korea and Anthony Weiner! Are we really supposed to believe that two

was to make sure that Ivanka Trump fully understood the important role Planned Parenthood

They want to be the first Republican-dominated state to crow about “stopping all abortions within the state”. It’s the same reason the Missouri Republicans were fighting so aggressively to shut down the last clinic, and same in Mississippi.

Rewatch the West Wing knowing what you know now. You’ll see it.

I only read it last summer, and I’m still haunted by the “There’s freedom to, and there’s freedom from...” bit.

What were the consequences if you didn’t? That’s the part you may not remember, but which is part of every solid parenting strategy. It may not be something you consider a “trick,” but getting a 6-year-old to remember to do something every single day without being reminded constantly or screwing up constantly

When I was a teenager, I got it in my head that I would have either a baby or a husband, but not both because that would be too much work.

How Not to Hate Your Husband

Did you think Serena Joy was happy in Gilead, Tomi? This is the future you’ve worked so hard to build. You’re not allowed to have opinions.

... which, combined, reveal intimate information about the user’s sexual habits.

For example, as an older established family we no longer need pre-natal and maternity care options. Some of the “minimum standards” set by the ACA made insurance more expensive for all.

That’s not true, and I addressed it in the post. The CBO says the market is stable (aka NOT in a death spiral) under either the ACA or AHCA.

As an older, established family, a la carte is probably not actually something you are going to want, given that your health declines as you age. You would need to opt in to a whole host of things that a younger person would skip, and you would pay more for it than whatever you imagine maternity care to be costing you.

These estimates are separate from the yearly increases. It’s comparing the two plans to each other, not to prices today. Prices go up every year; they did before the ACA, too.

This came about last year and the university held Sandstorm hostage and wouldn’t play it at any basketball game. The students then started chanting Fuck KU to any music that was played whether over the PA or by the band. They finally relented and played it once last year. Same thing this year, they played it once,

Let me help out the people of Lawrence.

Counterpoint: Fuck KU.
