Get a cx7 (not the turbo one, the 2.5 NA FWD), everyone is out buying the cx5 and these can be had for cheap and have the same engine and platform as the Mazda 3, very reliable.

you can get a gen 2 mazda cheap too, which is past the rust era (I have a 2011 and very little rust after almost 10 years), but everyone’s perception is that even later mazdas are rust buckets

We live East of Toronto where there are tons of lakes, I keep thinking about getting a boat even a runabout as you see ones for sale all the time at the end of someone’s driveway, but the country property keeps us so busy it would just spend the summer in the driveway. I’m keeping my Mazda for 10 years on a 5 year note(4 actually, paid it off a year earlier), I bought this car when it was 4 years old so the depreciation meant I paid about 50% less than new. The car will be about 15 years old when I get rid of it.

We had an i35 which was on the Maxima platform, great 3.5 engine with 255HP, a lot for the time in a luxury sedan. We had no issues with it.

for a little more space go for the Mazda 5, discontinued so deals can be found and another under the radar gem that will go for years, it is essentially a mazda 3 wagon.
