I'm guessing that the hack does take down Evilcorp initially, but that there's massive damage-control at the governmental level (and maybe via an unrecognized backup site) and that the world (mostly) shrugs in the end.

It occurs to me that there's a lot of Lost DNA in MrR. From the cold open in the past, to the Deep Secrets, to the Father Issues central to the plot.
