It’s an issue of dignity and recognition. I need ID to do a lot of things in Canada. Buy alcohol. Get a bank account. Get a health card. Sign a lease. Use a credit card for a large purchase. If my ID had information on it that was not only countering expectations of who I am, but that in itself insulting my fight to…
Her saying she “didn’t know” she wasn’t supposed to mix with alcohol is bullshit. The first time you get a med like that from a pharmacy, the pharmacist or tech is required to go over all that stuff with you, and every bottle, every time has all the warning stickers on it. So she either ignored all that and drank…
AMEN! I would also be sitting there with my feet up and marinating away in dirty flood water if I had no other place to go. Walking around chest deep in water is hard. An 80 yr old is definitely not up to the task in freezing cold flood water. Where do people expect them to go? Outside?
She’s always comes off as a clueless, culture stealing asshole, IMO. The glasses thing makes no sense either, as we live in a era where glasses, even for kids, are a solid fashion accessory. And it’s been like that for nearly 20 years, I as remember having multiple pairs in high school and never got mocked for them.…
That’s just evil.
My vet’s scale is pretty big, and it’s right by check in on the floor. When my cats go, I put the carrier on the scale. I have enough trouble getting them in the carrier, I’m not gonna take them out unless I have too.
I don’t know if I ever responded to this. Thanks for your message— it really helps. I think you’re spot on with the advice about when to step in. There’s a lot of media stuff right now that makes you think you have to go down to the school in an armored tank with six lawyers if anyone says anything nasty to your kid,…
This guy has the most terrifying face I’ve ever seen. Is he rich because he sued his plastic surgeon?
It’s Summer Under the Stars - every day in August is 24 hours of a star.
That was Susan Hayward. But they do show it.
It was Roz Russell day on TCM. I can stop everything anytime it’s on. (BTW, if you’ve never read the original novel, it’s an often overlooked treasure of 20th century literature (even funnier than the film!); there’s also an equally terrific sequel called “Around the World With Auntie Mame” that you can’t put down.…
Yeah, with a lot of paintings, I love looking at the paint and details, especially impressionist art. So I do get somewhat close to the paintings. BUT as a fucking adult, I also know to be super, duper careful, not to get my face like, within an inch of the damn painting, and to make sure I don’t touch a damn thing…
Hah. I too, have had the public shaming when looking too close at a beautiful piece of art. It’s so tempting to get close. I literally will hold both hands behind my back to prevent myself from committing the egregious sin of touching the artwork.
And now I am planning a murder/dump job and feel much better, nosey stranger, so thanks!
I was at the Met once and they had these early photograph type things that were still light-sensitive, and covered by a veil to reduce the exposure.
