I think it belongs on the list because of ref intervention that interrupted the game and jerked fans’ emotions around. It wasn’t a bad call, but an example of not ‘knowing what to feel’ that was consistent with the other ref interventions in that respect. Totally agree that it was the right call and really was the…
I still like the Eagles even after dealing with them in my favorite team’s division for almost forty years and bad memories like the body bag game. Says a lot.
If you guys remember Ledell Eackles and Calbert Cheaney, you probably also remember Ennis Whatley and Charles Jones and Michael Adams and Mark Alarie and Steve Colter and the other Charles Jones.
“It has to be like the Nash defense.”
If this doesn’t win him the MVP, nothing will.
Yes. Yes they are.
#77 is like “why is this guy sitting over here??”
One thing I noticed about that announcer was that she should shut the fuck up. I think I literally heard about 20% of the music if that.
She’s fine. She is just Andy Richter’s other little sister.
I laughed out loud! To be precise, that list is not a spectrum, though. (Like the Kinsey scale, for example.)
Yeah, I think looking at the relative success of the Rooney rule, it makes perfect sense to pilot it with other coaching roles, especially any that have a history of being less diverse. Take the 1-5 roles that are most white currently and historically and apply the rule. Seems pretty simple.
I read that Bengals would’ve been fine having Lewis for another year so, not a typical firing, but Lewis mutually agreed to part ways and give them a year earlier start with next coach. I would almost consider that one a resignation. Still drops the minority coaching ranks all the same.
Very well reasoned argument backed by solid evidence. You’re going places!!
I think getting people of color in head coaching positions and other coaching positions has been rapidly improving in my lifetime. This offseason is a step back but I think the Rooney rule has helped and continued attention like this on it has helped. My litmus test this year is whether Bienemy gets interviews and…
I think his larger point is that Kliff Kingsbury is a dipshit (and I’m rubbing my hands together excited to see how KK embarrasses himself on a bigger stage) but he cleverly cloaked it in a racial opportunity monologue. He’s a fucking ninja.
Here’s my hand (I live in CA). He’s well known on Deadspin at this point. I call for a transition period of referring to him as ‘Dallas Sportscaster Dale Hansen’ until everyone knows who he is at which point we can drop the first two words.
You’re gonna have to go into a little more detail on “I think many players are capable of holding Steph to 10 points *consistently*. They just...I don’t know...haven’t seemed to give a shit before?” or it’s just horseshit. The dude is averaging 28.9 ppg, is first in offensive box plus/minus, and is 11th in offensive…
True. I just watched that whole game and subsequently watched this (hilarious—due to his co-host’s confused reactions) video and still had no idea who those three guys were.
Nani didn’t make a mistake on that play. He was not offside and the play was over—the ball had crossed the goal line. And they could still make the wrong choice to call him offside whether he touched it or not. He just got shafted.
Ronaldo on the other hand—there was very very little chance that getting his head on…
