Rule 8.05(e) Comment: A quick pitch is an illegal pitch. Umpires will judge a quick pitch as one delivered before the batter is reasonably set in the batter’s box. With runners on base the penalty is a balk; with no runners on base, it is a ball.

Quick pitches are a *written* rule of baseball, though. It doesn’t happen often in the Major Leagues but pitchers that try this have had balls/balks called on them for it.

Seriously. In tennis, the server determines pace of play. You’re not ready to return? Tough shit. Same thing should apply (and be applied, liberally) in baseball.

Whoever cut the video sucks. You can’t tell it’s a quick pitch because the pitch is already being delivered when the CF view starts.

I’m a 15 year veteran NC teacher who went through the public school system myself (West Charlotte, ‘99) and who now teaches in a rural-ish school district (not unlike Rowan-Salisbury). When I was in HS, my AP classes were 24-25 students. The AP classes I have taught are in the 36-38 student range.

I hear ya. I watched most of the tourney, but I must have missed the broadcast team talking about the second cut on Sunday. Maybe it happened during one of their “limited commercial interruptions”, which apparently meant the same 3 fucking ads played a dozen times per hour.
