I don’t have a ton of experience with barbells, but my understanding is that they’re not supposed to be flying.

he was running into the wall for 10 seconds like RBI Baseball

+1 Minnesota reference

There really should be a policy against this sort of thing...televising it is just what the streaking squirrel wants.

There was a lovely bit in the pre-race coverage that discussed how Pocono was conceived when the track was originally built. One turn from the long-gone Trenton, one turn from the dearly missed Milwaukee Mile, and one turn from Indianapolis.

In theory, mastering a single lap at Pocono in the days of Gebhardt chassis

Pocono’s fencing is shit. All of Pocono’s infrastructure is shit. Doc Mattioli refused to invest in any upgrades unless NASCAR forced his hand. The kids have loosened the purse strings a bit, but 40+ years of neglect will be hard to overcome. Shoot, I remember when the fencing didn’t even go around the entire track.

Pocono is very flat and wide. So when cars are sliding around, they’re not scrubbing speed as they go up the banking like they do in a steeply-banked track like Indy. I also wonder if Pocono needs to look at the angle and height of their walls. They have to do something to keep the cars out of the fence.

I think you’re unintentionally hitting the nail on the head - Pocono is another high speed “oval” but it seems to be disproportionately hazardous to drivers when compared to other circuits. I think the lack of effort is what Elizabeth is really calling out here. Pocono’s management has now seen 3 out of 5 races result

According to this previous Deadspin post, Brown’s helmet is now 12 years old. It would have been 11 years old last year which means he may have gotten the same one year grace period. He just didn’t use it to find a new helmet that he could accept. The reporting has been unclear on this point.

It aint about brains son, its about HEART

It’s a lot easier to do die at 47 when you are using a helmet that doesn’t protect your brain.

Inject this straight into my veins. I need this saga to be drawn out as long as possible, bringing the Raiders, AB, and everyone else past their breaking points. I need panicked public statements, I need social media meltdowns, and I need Jon Gruden turning shades of red that even Deadpsin couldn’t photoshop. I love

He had some of the strangest corners I’ve heard in a while. The one after the 2nd was wild— his trainer started by telling him he was doing “the opposite of everything” he needed to, and DC just started asking if he was losing the fight... He asked again after the 3rd, too, which is so weird to me. At that point, DC

Dodgers fan here, and I’m in favor of this. It’s been hard for me to root for the guy, and that’s only been exacerbated by the lack of actual consequences. I’m not saying this “fixes” anything, but at least there’s real acknowledgment.

His advice: Get a federal permit to kill one of the vultures, then hang it in a tree or other spot where other vultures can see it for miles around.

With all due respect, this is the least problematic part of last night’s game. Matz is a good hitting pitcher (he got his second hit of the game that inning, and scored the tying run). There were two out, Mets were down 2-1. Matz had only thrown 79 pitches to that point and was flying through the Braves hitters.

That’s what Mickey Callaway gets for having Vince Coleman as a bench coach.

That’s some pretty damning stuff.  It’s almost as if powerful people were friends with Jeffrey Epstein and his contacts kept him above the law.  Almost as if our entire justice system were fundamentally broken due to corruption; but if that were true then we’d see a lot of poor, largely powerless individuals being

Well, of course the MMA guy was cagey.

He only got hired because Epstein thought “UFC” stood for something else.
