@nolabar10der: Vampire Weekend (and especially the Contra album) is awesome. It's white people pop music, which I love. I loved it so much, I actually bought the CD. And then I bought the vinyl.

Is there an easy way to re-install Windows XP on an Acer netbook? (It no longer has XP because I put Linux on it, but I now since we got Netflix, we need Windows to watch online.)

@GohanGVO: I like SMG2's box a bit more 'cause it's brighter.

How can I update Firefox if I have Ubuntu/Linux Mint which comes pre-installed with FF?

Hello fellow Lifehackers:

IIRC, can't you change a setting in about:config as well? That way you don't need to install another extension and you won't have to change every incompatible add-on manually.

@Reutnes: Just make you don't let your cats get into it.

@fate47 - meh.: Note: this is not a scientific poll. Thanks for clearing that up, CNN. Fox News will still use it anyways.

@TheLouis: It's for photos, but I'm sure the first program featured on this page will also work with any type of file, including video. [help.ubuntu.com]

@Felix26591: Technically I'm using Linux Mint which incorporates many of the licensed codecs. Do they pay licensing fees? I'm just wondering. I'm not trying to be snarky.

Is there much of a point to virtualizing Chrome OS?

I think Firefox should just make it so if you have a h.264 plugin already, you can play HTML5 video that uses h.264. If I can play h.264 content in Linux with Totem, then I should be able to do the same in Firefox.

@talkingstove: "Herr" just means Mister or Lord in German. You probably meant "Fuhrer"

@Bryon Farris: The video quality is slightly lower when using the HTML5, I agree. But at least my CPU isn't at 100% when I'm watching a video, either.

I'm surprised Mac OS X doesn't have a centralized update manager for every program. You would think it'd fit right in Apple's usual easy-to-use interface. They can update all their own programs at once, but no any third-parties.

If there's one thing that I love about Linux, it's that there is just one centralized update manager and the updates install fast and usually without restart. Windows Updates take ages and often require restarts.

@DaveyNC: I actually managed to switch my grandparents from IE to Chrome. Their computer is piece of junk so Firefox takes forever to load, and they only play FarmVille and check Yahoo Mail, so it's perfect. I want to re-install Windows for them once their Norton subscription runs out. At least I managed to put Ubuntu
