Two scrolls into the comments and already two Airplane references. I'm ok with this.

Fred Armisen was in the credits but nowhere to be seen, unless I missed something? Was he the pitched down voice of the dick monster? Because if so that seems like a giant waste.
Sterling Archer Draper Pryce was pretty good too.
I saw him open for FlyLo a few months ago, and good God I thought I'd seen everything, but that man knows his way around a bass that I didn't think were possible.
The 'Zeppelin stole shit' argument is perfectly valid to me, even as a huge fan, because a) they pretty much did, albeit quite well, and mostly b) they've flat out denied it, which is antithetical to the idea of putting old music into a new context, which I'm a HUGE fan of (I could probably write a book about sampling…
Sunny's definitely had a few under 20. The online dating episode was around 24 though…and worth every minute.
Mallory getting the elevator down while Ray's head was still sticking out the shaft (as far as we saw, also phrasing) gave me severe Six Feet Under flashbacks.
Just watched it through a reliable *cough* source…ten seconds short of 20 minutes.
Conceptually, this episode worked as well as any so far; McKinney's golf watching indifference to Josh's love life was hilarious and got a big laugh for reminding me of my dad. I was just bummed because Josh and Maude did really seem good together, and it seemed like he was being a little obtuse in not realizing that.…
That all sounds valid, but its perfectly reasonable for Abbi not to have understood that (being a stranger to that side of sexual exploration and all), and she at least made an effort to do the right thing. He was being a dick.
I would speculate (based on nothing, but its definitely possible) that the music was an afterthought to invite the comparison to Birdman; they filmed it before the movie came out, but the score could've been changed in post much later. Birdman obviously didn't invent long takes, but its the most recent cultural…
When he showed up again in the first episode I was hoping that would be a running gag, though 'if anyone wants to hang, I'll be at Subway' is as good a line as any to go out on.
His giddy optimism that he can still successfully seduce young attractive women despite being an unkempt 60 year old troll man (which was out full force in the last episode) is such a delight.
That's part of the fun of Frank though; he's a confused old man hanging out around with these younger degenerates and doesn't really understand what's going on or what he's doing there, and I honestly can't 100% tell if that's DeVito playing the character that way, or DeVito himself getting older and more out of touch…
I can't agree with your stance on his comedy, but Louis is a great director and I'd love to see him tackle another feature that isn't necessarily based on him or his comedy (and with actual creative control this time). The 'Into the Woods' episodes of Louie last year were particularly remarkable.
I kind of feel that way about most reviews here. When I get into the groove of a show, my reaction to a new episode is usually 'that was another episode, and I enjoyed it.' Occasionally it'll be 'that wasn't as good', or 'that was exceptionally good!' Then I read these reviews and there's a doctorate level analysis of…
I'm pretty sure the only thing holding him back was that it happened to be a year that Daniel Day-Lewis was actually in a movie. He still deserved it, and I have a feeling everyone knew it. If memory serves DDL even said as much in his SAG(?) speech. It really was a balls to the wall once in a lifetime performance.…
I just commented that Kyle was my favourite, but Funches is a close second. I'd never heard of him until I saw him opening for Dave Chappelle in Montreal a couple years ago. Seeing his 'Skittles!' closing bit live was definitely a special moment in my life.
I watch @midnight every night, cause its good fallin' asleep TV. Kyle is by far the MVP of the regulars; he's the only guy that makes me actually laugh out loud every time he's on.
