The Kindle fire's reading experience is exactly the same as reading the Kindle app on a 7" Android tablet. It's an 'extension' of the Kindle family only in that it 'extends' it to movies and TV, which is what Amazon has made it for and what they will make millions out of.
Fair enough. I'll clarify: reading at length on a tablet is dumb. It hurts your eyes, it gives you a headache, and you can never quite lose the temptation to click away onto a notification, check your email, etc.
The DoDoCase is retro bookist crap and reading on a tablet is dumb.
Really works for me. But, it does mean a montly fee and you don't own the music, which I get that some people don't like.
If you don't want to pay fair enough, I suppose. You said you wanted to stream to your iPhone, which i took to mean from a service like Rdio.
Even in offline mode?
Yes. that's a better way of putting it.
Spotify
i wish they'd bumped it to the iphone 4's camera.
I'm not totally convinced Amazon does need 'its own' OS. It's forked Android, which means it's in total control of its branch. That's as much 'theirs' as WebOS would be if they bought it.
Dear people who don't listen to voicemail: Turn off your goddam voicemail! If I call you and I hear a message saying 'please leave a message,' I'm gonna damn well leave you a message and expect you to £$^$ listen to it.
I think magazine content is available free on the website, so though this iPad app looks very pretty don't think you have to pay to read that content.
Nationwide. It's just got a small circulation because it's kinda high-minded, but it's really, really, really good.
Why is no-one going on about this image? It looks pretty convincing. Is it fake? If not, surely it should be on the front page or something.
Also: is this Peter Thiel's fault?
I don't hate this idea per se, but they should pop up a warning if you're less than three months in saying 'are you sure about this, bro?'
Miscarriage is just a lot more likely. [Edit] Oh, I just realised a million people have pointed this out already.
They evolved over the years from slightly cutesy stuff to much more interesting electronic stuff. My personal favourite album of theirs is Hissing Fauna, Are You The Destroyer? from 2007 or so. The Past Is A Grotesque Animal is fucking epic at a party at 4am.
I can't tell you how depressing it is to hear Elephant 6 talked about in such historical tones. I only saw Of Montreal live for the first time last year.
