There is 100% more Biblical support for this than for the original.
So the problem is that real-life Spartans are bad vessels for the politics of Frank Miller’s comic, so it becomes silly, for example, when a Spartan says something disparaging about “boy lovers” or about “liberty”: the way the Spartans lived contradicts Miller.

Well...no. The criticism here is that his choice of subject matter isn’t suited well to the ideas he’s trying to convey, which makes it sillier.
