Except that Kennedy’s takeaway from Solo was that Alden Emmerich was the big reason why the movie flopped. Nothing else.

Not going to get too excited about this given Kennedy fired Lord and Miller for trying to do something comedic (as in, what they are best known for) with Solo.
Backburnered.
If they’re able to verify the disc once and tie it to an account...surely they could also use this to let us install games on a console and never have to insert the disc again?
‘“Maybe this is a missing story.” He says. “Or a parallel world. Or a dream, or a trick, or a flashback.’
If he doesn’t reverse the stupid ass decision to reverse all of Donna’s character development, then her return won’t be worth it.
Or maybe she means it in the way that nobody has ever really met John Krasinski because there’s nothing under the surface there. There’s nothing behind his eyes.
Next you’re going to tell me Tig Notaro never met the cast of Army of the Dead.
…or c) these movies are filmed on a green screen and it’s entirely common for people to appear in scenes together without ever having met.
Aw, no mention of Basil Poledouris’s legendary score for the film? It practically makes the movie. Conan’s prayer to Crom intercut with Thulsa Doom and his riders closing in as the sweeping music plays always gets to me.
Man, it is crazy to suddenly be reminded of both how old Conan the Barbarian is and also how much I absolutely love it as a movie. Don’t get me wrong, it has several flaws, but where I disagree with the review here with about is that what makes the movie so iconic and enduring is that it succeeds in being ultimately…
The soundtrack still slaps.
Messiah *is* the second book.
Magnificent.
Catch Me If You Can was the one I was going to mention. It was fun to watch him play smooth and charming again.
What a stupid take. Dune Messiah is basically the whole point of what’s happening in Dune
Walk without rhythm. It won’t attract the worm.
The thing about Dune Messiah is that you kind of need it to understand the point. Paul isn’t a “hero”. Like all supposed “great men” of history like Alexander, Caesar, and Napoleon, he is responsible for countless deaths. But unlike them he actually comes to realize it and regret it.
And I’d argue that downer is key to Dune (the book; while Dune 1 has made some gestures towards “being space messiah is bad mkay?”, we’re yet to see if Dune 2 will round out that arc); I think the events of Messiah are the themes/subtext of Dune made text.
I’m going to add Disney. I do not get the appeal. At. All. If I had kids, I might go once, or if I lived nearby, but I know people who go every year. They spend tons of money to travel there, stay in a hotel, and go to a place with crowds, kids, and lines. That’s my idea of Hell.
