Jeez Louise, why so much cynicism? It’s a 2.34 minute trailer. I’m excited that it’s a stark stylistic departure from the last two movies. And let’s be honest, if it wasn’t, the same critics would be complaining that it’s just another uninspired reboot.

Well, what an interesting take.

As a kid, I thought Ghostbusters was hilarious but it was also the scariest movie I had seen.

What (IMO, YMMV) made Ghostbusters so great was that it was shot like a horror movie, not a comedy. The trailer hearkens back to that vibe, which is, I think, a good sign. Despite the dearth of jokes, I have no doubt that what we’re going to see will be a comedy.

Ghostbusters 2016 was not a perfect movie and maybe did not need to be made.

Look, I can’t help it, I’m an absolute sucker for anything Ghostbusters, but that photo of the original four outside the fire house just made me grin like an absolute idiot.

rmlohner does get that this is a trailer, right? I mean, I absolutely get the whole attachment they have to this franchise from watching the other films I guess, but I don’t think we should treat how a trailer is cut as fully indicative of the final cut, and perhaps trailers shouldn’t give away the more entertaining…
