Made sense that it was a PAC-12 QB and a Big XII QB at the helms last night. Those defenses sure looked like PAC/BigXII defenses most of the time.

‘The Raptors and Bucks combined for 60 assists, the most combined assists ever on a Tuesday!’
Yes, it is. Look at some of the QB stats of the all-time greats. Marino and Montana look like journeymen. Brett Favre looks...OK. Peyton Manning looks above average. Compare early career Tom Brady to now. It’s like two different QB’s - one pretty good, the other great.
I’m hesitant to say that the sort of scoring we saw in Chiefs-Rams is going to be more commonplace. They just seem like really fucking great offenses in a time where the rules are already pretty favorable to them. Plus, their defenses scored a bunch too. It’s not like Goff and Mahomes traded 7 TDs each (though Mahomes…
Pretty much every game of Tecmo Bowl ever.
True, but with the college game, there’s no attempt or illusion at anything resembling parity. They don’t (publicly) pay the players, so there’s no salary cap. There are a ton of teams, so talent is generally spread pretty thin outside of some powerhouse schools. The whole season is set up to win as many games as…
Last night’s game was the first time I’ve ever questioned my commitment to our President. Sitting in my dilapidated rust belt diner with my friends this morning, I was jealous that they’d watched the most exciting football game ever while I spent my evening watching re-runs of Last Man Standing because I thought we…
I went to bed and I hate myself. (And I made my seven year-old go to bed and now he hates me, too).
That’s a lot of college football. It still maintains a pretty solid level of entertainment.
At this point I’d be all in favor of just cancelling the remaining 6 weeks of the season and letting the Chiefs, Rams, and Saints play a round robin, double elimination tournament of some kind to decide the winner.
Yeah, I don’t get this argument. If you don’t like that sort of game, I hope you never watch a Patriots or Packers game...
A 27-24 game would likely have been decided by whichever team got the ball last...
Kluwe did it first.
It’s Arena football. I like Arena well enough. But 100+ points?
There were 3- almost FOUR- defensive touchdowns in the game. Having the ball in that game also meant a higher-than-average likelihood of giving points to the opponent. Stop ignoring the fact that the DLs on both teams looked like monsters for 50% of the plays.
Oh, so Big XII football is the future?
Oddly enough, the defenses scored 21 points in the game. The Rams defense outscored the Chiefs defense 14-7 (the Chiefs offense outscored the Rams offense 44-40).
Yeah... I don’t watch a ton of football, but if this is the future (I don’t think it is), I’ll probably watch even less. This was a singularly fun game to watch, but if every game is just teams trading 3 play scoring drives... it won’t really be that entertaining in the long run.
WHY DON’T THEY MAKE THE WHOLE LEAGUE OUT OF MAHOMESES?
I really enjoyed the game!
