I did sort of like seeing the piss taken out of them, though. Apparently they got tired of it however, so now we’ll just have to watch John Oliver/Stephen Colbert/etc for that part, and skip the parts where the news media self-congratulates themselves for sucking up to power.

I’d like to see this dinner be more of a somber affair (or at least more serious) with credit being given to those journalists who have died and who have really gone above and beyond to expose injustices in our system. Well it should be as valuable as any other trade association dinner, that is totally insular and boring to everyone not in the trade association.
