Haha, thanks! I’ll def give one of those a try. I actually like Philly, for the record. Went to school there. But I really also do love Wawa, and this being the internet, I felt it necessary to defend its’ honor in a manner befitting the medium.

In support: compare and contrast the skills and NFL career arcs of Robert Griffin III (offensive coordinator: Shanahan) in Washington DC with Pat Mahomes today.

So sorry. All of us don’t speak a second language.

Today nobody would care that they were wrong on Bortles if they’d had the stones to land Mahomes. Assuming that the Jags didn’t ruin Mahomes.

I think what he means is that they’d taken Bortles #3 overall in 2014 a few years earlier and they weren’t going to take another first round QB so soon. That’s why I think cdavis17 added “for better or worse”. NFL GMs/execs hate admitting they were wrong and picking Mahomes so soon after Bortles would mean admitting

Hey go fuck yourself! I’m moving to philly next summer, and wawa is one of a very small handful of positive things I’m looking forward to. If they start getting supplanted by ANYthing, I will go on a murder spree.

Reid never had that skill in Philadelphia. See McNabb, Donovan. He does have incredible skill in developing young quarterbacks. But for Reid, his scheme is definitely first and foremost. He’s a little less rigid with that nowadays but I would still say he’s a system guy.

Sure but the Jags are “committed to” a bad quarterback. That commitment doesn’t mean that they aren’t dumb as hell for refusing to accept that Bortles was a sunk cost and that they should move the hell on. Also worth noting that his extension didn’t happen until this year, so they were not tied to him financially

Bortles was going to announce their pick, but he got intercepted.

Well...

I can’t believe there’s someone out there who thinks that Jared Kushner means the Trump family is now ethnically diverse.

Making fun of SF inability to draft is like shooting fish in a barrel. I still very much can’t believe Jed “We win with integrity” York decided to go with Baalke over Harbaugh. Fucking hilarious.

The best part of that Yale professor’s interview is where he talks about how he’s doing literary criticism, because if I know anyone who can really bore down into the nuances of human language it’s fuckin’ old-ass CompSci dudes.

Ok, I missed the Titans, you’re right about that. But as for the the Bengals and Jags, an improvement at QB would’ve done them good, even at that time. For the Chargers, Rivers is playing well, but on the wrong side of 30, and you have to wonder how much longer.

I can’t....I just can’t.

No, it’s even better. The argument is that Trump can’t be racist because his daughter married a white guy who celebrates Hanukkah instead of Christmas.

Most coaches (and GMs for that matter) don’t have the courage or confidence to assess player skills and adapt their schemes to their players’ strengths. Reid does, Belichick does, McVay and Pederson do, but that’s probably it. Maybe Carroll does? The authoritarian, “my scheme,” “leader of men” coaches are really just

The Jaguars, Titans, Chargers, and Bengals also had QBs that they were committed to at the time. (Now, I think the only one of those 4 QBs that’s worth a damn is Rivers, but they plausibly had a reason not to take a first-round QB in 2017).

I just looked at the ten picks before Mahomes in the 2017 NFL Draft, and the only team with an excuse is Carolina, who have Cam Newton for presumably a few more productive years. Great work, 49ers - Solomon Thomas?! Well done.

The argument “he can’t be an anti-Semite because his daughter married a Jewish guy!” blows my fucking mind.
