This isn’t my position. This is what Monica herself states, which directly contradicts the point you’re trying to make about infantiaizing her.

Monica herself acknowledges that she consented but that there was a power imbalance/abuse of power. It’s not infantalizing to take her at her word.

Another person that just doesn’t get it. Seriously, you people suck and are part of the problem.

I can't tell if you're trolling or if you actually took time to offer a measured response and still  came up with such a stupid fucking comment.

What, exactly, was the risk to the unpaid intern in this scenario?

The fact that the President can make up his own rules re: the workplace and subsequent relationships should tell you about the power imbalance. It was an abuse of power *and* an improper work relationship.

A lot of people in this thread, unfortunately. “She was an adult, she consented, blah blah”.

Here’s why it’s an abuse of power: Despite Lewinsky’s enthusiastic consent, she could not have opted to refuse or rescind consent without fear of retaliation. True consent must include the ability to safely deny consent.

I’d be more on board with the “She doesn’t have to answer for her husband” if she just didn’t answer. If she was like “I’m not here to talk about what my husband did 20 years ago,” I’d be like “Ok, fair.”

Two decades later and this is the best conclusion Hillary could reach? By what abysmal standards is it okay for the most powerful man in the world to proposition a twenty two year old girl? I think these men tell their wives “she really wanted it, she was chasing me, she threw herself at me”. But surely Hillary

For those of you who think Monica was a consenting 22 year old adult, keep in mind Clinton:

Because giving a pass to Clinton paved the way for Trump today. I get that we had to align ourselves with him to get progressive policies, but we’re paying the price now.

Because it should have been addressed fucking ages ago.  We 100% know what happened between the two of them and it was an abuse of power and if we don’t address the elephant in the room, they will use it to attack us again and again and again, like they already have been doing.

That always sounds nice in theory, and it is great to get the occasional day/week of sun and 70s in the winter/spring as we do here in the Bay Area, but the last thing I want is that weather all winter/spring. As it is, there really isn’t a fall here, it’s 83 today and will be 83 on Oct. 28, and there probably won’t

The heat debate and the “It’s 110 omg King of the Hill comic lol” jokes I’m 100% in agreement with you. Not to mention that people IMMEDIATELY try to then downplay the heat with some snark about how “it’s a dry heat” and then usually Houston bro shows up and is like “OH YEAH! TRY 95 WITH 95 HUMIDITY PUSSY!”

I went to Spring Training in Scottsdale like a decade ago and it was 103 degrees.  Fuck that.

Not really...

I wish that were true, and for some of them it is — but plenty of these irony-poisoned for the lulz racists/fascists come from “good” liberal families too.

It’s anecdotal, but I do know of a kid (read - 30 year old man-baby) raised in a liberal home who’s become one of these weirdos by way of the incel movement. He’s not a full-on nazi, but is pretty comfortable with fascism and authoritarianism to go with his gross misogyny.

It’s just...super that “professional troll” is not just a viable livelihood, but now a viable political platform.
