that’s how I feel too.

oh I can’t stand the whole “do what you love” career advice.  do what pays you to afford the life that permits you to do what you love after work.  take it from someone who’s first degree is in fine arts.  I got a master’s in something that has an actual job market, and my friends from my undergrad days who didn’t do

I used to be one of the last to leave company parties and now I’m one of the first (If I even bother to go) and wow am I so much happier.

as someone who guiltily loves a good fast food breakfast sandwich, these look first rate.  thank you!

Our plan is to have a baby by end of 2019 or early 2020, so i'm not real optimistic about getting in shape while pregnant :( maybe in a few years when I have time to myself again,  if we're successful.

I used to be in fantastic shape but then life and a shoulder injury intervened and now I’m in awful shape again.  Incredible how fast you can derail your fitness level in just a year.  At least I started Crossfit again in 2018 so maybe I’m on the right track.  But I just don’t enjoy it (Crossfit, or any working out

isnt it the best feeling ever?  I actually sold my condo and paid them off with the proceeds.  I’m much happier renting, and where I live, the cost to buy a home + pay 5 figure real estate taxes is much, much higher than renting, so I can sock away the extra money I’m saving.

the childcare costs are going to be a complete killer.  We both work full time.  The costs will be higher than our rent.

oh also, i see there are some aldi in nyc now.  if you can get there to shop, consider checking it out.

my tip for you about dining out less while at work: keep things you can make at work available in a pantry there. By pantry I mean a shelf or drawer. Here is what I keep at work:

aw, thanks! No apologies needed for being “wordy”, I can only imagine.  I’m “old” too so I get it.

congrats! We haven’t gotten pregnant yet. We will see. If it doesn’t happen, we’ll just go a different direction in life!

I’ll bite.  I’m not sure what you’re getting at.  Can’t a guy read these 10 books too?

Yes, she is the narrator!  I have not listened or read Children of Blood and Bone, but when I do get to it perhaps I’ll choose audio then!  I’m waiting till the series is complete.

Yes, over the fall we set our total amounts we wanted to spend on the holidays, and budgeted that amount over a few months.  All we buy for is each other and our parents, that’s it (I have no nieces or nephews, no siblings, and my partner and his brother are estranged).

this year was pretty killer for short story collections.  There are a bunch I loved that came out this year not even on this list--Florida, Heads of the Colored People, Friday Black.

Florida was absolutely fantastic.  I felt I could relate so, so much to many of the stories in that book.

thanks for putting these on my radar!
