LOL when have the U.S. men’s team EVER played as cohesively and aggressively as this performance was? Like lifelong, diehard men’s fan here, I really want to know. I understand the physicality of male and female athletes can’t be compared but that’s why we have separate leagues in the first place. The men’s team have

Do you think only white people get sunburned cause I got some compelling evidence on my shoulders to tell you otherwise...

Oh how I wish more lawyers understood this.

LOL I know right like did I miss a supreme court opinion or something cause if that’s not double jepordy what in the hell is?

What’s arguable? A defendant who received a not-guilty verdict from a jury getting retried on the same charge is like the most basic form of double jeopardy.

Woah.

This wins everything. This post deserves all of the stars in the sky.

Don’t lie (and in this case non-disclosure was the same thing) on freaking jury duty of all places. Yikes.

It’s not a question of what the juror felt, it’s a question of law and truthfulness. He was the victim in that case, regardless of his feelings about the situation, just like his ex is legally a convicted rapist, regardless of his feelings about the situation. He didn’t have amnesia, he knew his ex had that conviction

I’ve seen judges allow jurors to answer questions not in front of the whole pool, but come up to the bench and answer if they want to answer privately for just the judge and attorneys to hear. And very often in big cases like this a written jury questionnaire will be distributed asking jurors about bias & prior

Well that’s straight up double jeopardy - the government can’t try someone again if they’ve been found not guilty of that crime. You can’t do that under the 5th amendment. A mistrial is different, and I’m assuming they will prosecute again and have a new trial.

It is absolutely my favorite thing to ever exist on the internet.

But if a tattoo parlor has sanitary conditions that’s a completely illogical comparison. They either use new needles and gloves and sterilize things or not. They aren’t even hiding it, they will do it in front of you while you are at the chair. It’s completely incomparable to having unprotected sex.

LOL blood donation regulations in the U.S. are also ridiculously overstrict, unless you also advocate she also immediately stop breastfeeding unless she ascertains for certain that none of her past male sexual partners have ever had any form of sexual contact with another man (because that’s a question they ask women

Well for jury duty in general yeah but this was a rape case specifically. A good defense attorney would be very concerned about bias, just like a good prosecutor would be very concerned about a former frat guy on the jury. They’d want to know if people knew anyone who was murdered if this was a homicide case too, etc.

You almost certainly would be denied an appeal about a juror you knew might be biased but didn’t try and strike. And might get yourself slapped with a malpractice lawsuit on top.

Uhh people absolutetly get denied for adoptions, some states have laws making it hard for queer parents to adopt/foster children. There is not a 100% chance of becoming a parent through adoption.

People talk about adopting children like it’s as simple and easy as getting a goldfish from a store. No conception of the cost involved, OFC no one thinks about the fact that some states have laws on the book that make it hard for queer parents to foster and adopt, criticizing queer people for wanting biological

...right next to him.

Yeah, so the charge gets taken out of your paycheck, and then you get ‘unlimited’ softdrinks & some % of a discount on the food at my overpriced restaurant (which honestly wasn’t enough for me to afford getting anything not off the kids menu or like a salad without meat). Triangle cups were allegedly okay for water at
