The food snobbery here, over such a basic staple, borders on the absurd.

They’re eggs. Just plain ass eggs that have been pre-cracked and scrambled. Any egg that doesn’t come out perfectly white, perfectly brown, or perfectly egg shaped gets used in this.

Like anywhere in South East Asia, don’t even think about travelling with any illegal drugs, because they can and will make an example out of you. Don’t even bother with gum and if you smoke cigarettes, buy a little container to have in your pocket or bag to hold the butts.

Underrated -

Singapore is a great city to try all sorts of food although a lot of them are adopted from other countries. Char kway teou. Hainanese chicken and and rice, and especially chilli crabs are must-haves. Jumbo Seafood is a good place to go for chilli crab; good taste and it’s a nice sit-down restaurant.

If you do plan to have lunch/dinner at a hawker centre (you should!), don’t remove the tissue packs you see on the tables, else you might incur the wrath of someone who just spent 15min in line for her beef noodles and now has walk around a crowded hawker centre with her lunch looking for an empty seat.
