I have a theory that this show will end with the story of Barry being a hitman coming out (either he is dead or in prison) and Sally will “use it” and make another show about her life, this time about realizing she’s in a relationship with a hit man.

Came here to say this. Barry actually killed a couple Chechens after they killed Ryan. I did a rewatch of the series before this season to keep my mind fresh.

Hoo boy. You are right and it is depressing.

I definitely thought that after they beat each other up they would start kissing, just like in the VR game. But nope - the cops came instead!

Not only was this the best episode of the series so far, but this was the best review I’ve seen on this site. Thank you, Joelle. Keep doing what you’re doing!

It’s crazy that her fiance was played by Tim Heidecker (who I ADORE) but he has no lines and I feel like that’s kind of awesome?

Good point! He’s a real MVP and I’m always delighted when he shows up in things (which is frequently!)

Jeremy Irons had me cackling when he was kicking his frozen clone all angry-like, and when he came back into his mansion and pushed the cake to the floor in a tantrum.

Yeah I definitely agree that the issue of sexuality is nuanced in Chasing Amy. I’ve known people who have come out of the closet, and then dated people of the opposite gender later in life, and in general I think people are starting to come around to the idea of sexual fluidity. I don’t feel like it was a male fantasy

I was really excited about HBO doing an adaptation of the Madaddam trilogy by Margaret Atwood, but looks like that’s dead in the water.

He was overrated AF anyway. If he had survived, I’m sure everyone would think of him as another douchebag blowhard like Chevy Chase. Also, he’s the reason why Jim Belushi is famous, so yeeeahhhh

I still cry sometimes when I remember he’s dead ngl

Yep, Cats at least has some good songs. RENT is just awful through and through.

I know what you mean, but there is a clear difference between Atwood’s writing and hard sci-fi like Asimov. I kind of understand her need to describe her novels as something a little different like “speculative fiction.” I would argue that The Handmaid’s Tale is more speculative/dystopian. Oryx and Crake leans heavier

I was IN LOVE with Devon Sawa back in the day. I think every girl in my age group (roughly 30/31 now) was. He uhh didn’t age that well, sadly, but he was still hot in SLC Punk and Idle Hands.

He wasn’t found innocent - he was found “not guilty.” There is a difference, pedantic as it may seem.

Yep. And although I’ve only seen the first season, I didn’t take much umbrage w/ the Rust/Jacobs pairing, but more with how Rust’s character seemed to consistently have incredibly hot, blonde women hitting on him/fucking him. It’s weird when you see the same hot “type” consistently paired w/ an actor who happens to

100% with you here. I’ve had enough of wallowing in the misery of Gilead. I’m ready for some revolution or something goddamn

Yes, that movie was just awful. It broke my heart because I LOVED that novel. Everything about the movie did not work though, starting w/ the casting

I’m a fan of his work, although yeah he was a polarizing figure and the groping is uhh pretty damn gross.
