There has been a lot of Dem Senators who are awfully quiet about the filibuster but because they keep their heads down, don’t take any heat. My guess is that there’s a lot more Dems out there, especially the ones who’ve been there forever, who agree with Manchin but don’t want people to know.

I’ve come around more to Rachel Maddow’s perspective. Having an all volunteer army and not using the draft for war has let to us pretty much being at war all the time. There’s no real cost to the average American for war. The price tag gets hidden, and there’s no threat to you or your kids if a war starts. But if…

Why would you think ending the draft would change that? We haven’t used it for decades and it hasn’t changed our foreign policy approach in iota of late.

The point of the lawsuit isn’t really to draft women; it’s to get rid of mandatory Selective Service registration altogether on the grounds that it’s discriminatory.

I think that they are trying to claim that they are too fucking stupid to be held accountable for their actions, and that the buck stops somewhere over there. The “too stupid to be responsible” defence is surprisingly popular among Republicans getting caught doing bad things lately.
