So did The Mummy (the good one with Brendan Fraser, not the bad one with Tom Cruise), which was released in 1999 a few days before TPM. That was a way better movie. Why not run an article about that?

I think Filoni maybe gets a little too much praise these days but I will always appreciate him fleshing out the clone troopers. In the prequels, so little time is spent with them they feel almost as robotic as the actual robots they’re fighting. By doing things like giving them names, having some have genuine…
“Innocent until proven guilty” is why he isn’t in jail. It doesn’t obligate anyone to work with him. It doesn’t obligate me to watch any of his stuff. Thanks for playing.
IMO that’s what makes Visions so awesome. Without the shackles of canon, people did some amazing storytelling.
Spacey is obviously kind of a dick even if he has somehow avoided the criminal stuff. But the ick factor kind of kills his chances. Nobody wants to think about that when he pops up on screen...and no one is going to risk their money investing in a film with that nasty baggage.
There is no constitutional right to a job, or for an employer to hire you just because you haven’t been convicted of anything in a court of law. And he doesn’t have to have been convicted for me to believe the victims. The so-called “justice system” rarely provides any.
Well if the man who announced that he at one point went out of his way to try to hunt down and murder any black man he could find thinks Kevin is a good man it must be true.
Honestly this is such a stupid move by all of them, PR-wise, that the only logical conclusion I can arrive at is that they all have scandals that haven’t broken yet and are hoping for reciprocal support when the time comes.
Call me naïve, but I’m always stunned when the wise course of action in a given situation is to simply shut the fuck up and people choose not to. Like, absolutely no one was out here saying “gee, I wonder what Sharon Stone thinks about Kevin Spacey” and yet she went out of her way to broadcast her idiot thoughts about…
Holy fuck. Just because groping is really common where you’re from doesn’t mean it’s okay. It means where you’re from is fucked up.
Yeah, if anything, he’s been desperately trying to get back into show business. His personal sense of shame doesn’t even seem to exist, let alone be somehow preventing him from working.
Also, as a sidebar, he’s been accused of sexual abuse by upwards of 16 people. Those kinds of accusations are individually always…
As things stand, you don’t have to be found guilty of a crime for employers to not want to work with you.
I don’t really think he’s being shamed out of working. It’s just business. A movie studio worried people wouldn’t turn out to see a movie with him in it, so they replaced him.
Stephen wtf are you doing.
Can we all just agree that Rise of Skywalker is the fucking worst.
I couldn’t disagree with you more, but I enjoy your passion for the subject and willingness to articulate the strengths of something you love. The prequels are terrible and that will never change, but you shouldn’t either.
I think The Phantom Menace was the best anyone could expect out of pure, unadulterated George Lucas. He needs the Gary Kurtzes and Marcia Lucases of the world to keep him in check, and no one on TPM was willing to do that. I also think that what Lucas does well he does excellently in TPM, and I still get bolts of joy…
I like Greg Proops as much as anyone when he’s on Who’s Line Is It Anyways. But that two-headed nonsense monster was a bit much.
Never going to understand why people keep trying to rehabilitate one of the worst movies ever made. The thrill of an actual race or even of a movie where they use real cars is completely absent, the crowd reactions are terrible, the announcer is terrible, the faces people keep pulling and the kid keep pulling are…
I have the complete opposite reaction to the pod racing. At best the race scene is way too long, at worst (depending on how I feel about the Phantom Menace that day) it’s completely unnecessary.
