So... will this be an individual mandate to say “Merry Christmas”?

Not all, but the number of guns would decline significantly, as would the number of shootings. That’s what happened in every other country that made guns illegal.

Too bad it’s so easy to bring guns across state lines.

It baffles me that you can’t see any nuance here. The fact that many people are simply too lazy to vote doesn’t mean that there aren’t people who want to vote but actually find it difficult to do for various reasons. These things are not mutually exclusive.

Well, yeah. There is that.

I don’t really want to defend Congress, but this is one of those areas where they really can’t win.

I believe that in quite a few states you need a specific reason to vote absentee.

That’s definitely true, and I bet there are some people who didn’t know that. Still, it means you still have to physically get there before the polls close.

Fair enough. Obviously there are plenty of people who didn’t bother. But I do think we still have some logistical roadblocks to clear out.

Not every states has early voting. And just because something is illegal doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen. We could avoid the problem altogether by simply giving people more time to vote.

I saw that article. I think it’s true for certain local races. The author is correct that public employee unions might benefit there. But once you get up to state and national races I don’t think it’s true.

Are you sure those are the same people? Lots of people work because they need the money.

I’m not sure how the rules are written in each state. I’m also not sure how well they are enforced in practice.

Also, if you live in a state where polls close early (I believe in Kentucky they close at 6 p.m.) that shit needs to change. Working people can’t vote if polls are only open when they’re at work.

Every single state that refused to expand Medicaid ended up spending more on health care than they otherwise would have (since the federal government covers 100% of the initial Medicaid expansion and will still pay for 90% after 2020). There’s a reason why even some Republican governors have explored ways to expand

Showing up at presidential rallies is fine for now. But I hope that once the primaries are over BLM activist start lobbying congressional candidates. No president is going to make serious change without acts of Congress, but we act like they can solve everything on their own. I bet there are a lot of incumbent

Purchases are already tied to accounts. It's just that the accounts themselves are tied to the systems. To transfer an account from a system that has been lost, you need to contact Nintendo.

They will all fail to live up to their campaigns. Even Bernie. They’ll never be able to do all they promise without a Congressional majority that they almost certainly won’t get.

Eh, the legislature only looks weak because the GOP can’t control their own party. When they got rid of earmarks, they got rid of the only way to keep members in line. Plus, the Senate is perpetually stymied by the filibuster.
