I did see that! I've tried a few products she uses, but not all. Parts of my face react differently to certain products/ingredients, so it's really hard for me to put together an effective routine. I've started documenting it to keep track of everything, plus knowing that other people are following along keeps me

Someone once recommended I try Dial hand soap on my face - she said it got rid of her acne. I was all: triclosan. No.

Agreed. Getting a retin-a prescription is so fucking easy to do. If you say "acne" in a doctor's office, they throw it at you.

So happy to see Mark is stepping out of his comfort zone.

woah woah woah. Who brought abortion to a vaccine fight?

Ideally, a toner adds a some moisture to the skin, maybe some antioxidants and such, and prepares the skin for other products. I don't think it's necessary step in everyone's skincare routine, but for people with oily skin, for example, a good toner can replace a moisturizer.

Have you used the lip tars? I'm dying to try it.

Have you tried exfoliating them before applying a balm?

1. Seche Vite is hands down the best top coat I've ever used. Super glossy and awesome. Unfortunately, it contains Toluene - not sure if this is a concern for you or not. (http://www.xovain.com/nails/is-seche…)

What's your undertone?

Try an AHA lotion like AmLactin. Paula's Choice also has a ton of exfoliants including a few that are specifically for the body.

I've only used Benetint, but Stila makes one too. For lipstick, NYX Alabama is good starter red for warm skintones (and is CHEAP). Nars Cruella and Fire Down Below are also pretty universally loved. If you want to try an orange based red, NYX Pure Red is good, and NARs Red Square is tiiiits.

Ditto on Temptalia (mostly mid-high end stuff). I also really love Musings of a Muse for cheaper/non-US brands, but she doesn't have a dupe list like Temptalia does.

Check out Nars "Dragon Girl" or NYX "Bloody Mary" - both are from their respective matte lines. Mac's Ruby Woo looks like a close match as well.

I tried it a little with Jojoba, but the potential for a really bad reaction prevented me from pushing forward with it. My skin is very acne prone and I don't want to risk it - I've heard some horror stories.

Ugh. If you find a good cleanser let me know. I have been "washing my face" with a clay mask for the last 6 months because I haven't found a normal cleanser that won't break me out. I'm going to test Paula's Choice "Earth Sourced" face wash next. Have you tried it?

From what I understand a lot of the "hype" around sulfates is unfounded. Worst case, sulfates are an irritant (they are surfactants). Basically, from a skincare perspective, unless you have sensitive skin, acne, or some kind of chronic skin condition like psoriasis or perioral dermatitis, you probably don't have to

dupe (oops)

If some rando pointed out a huge zit on my face, I'd be furious.
