Can’t be mad at any of this. Orders of magnitude safer & less of a hazard to others than anything David Tracy drives.

You definitely won’t want my liver when I’m done with it.
I saw a new non AMG E400 wagon the other day. It stood out among the bevy of GLC, GLK GLE’s and other luxury brands that you see on the road here in the Northeast. It looked fine, quite stylish with a low and lean haunch. For most buyers who don’t need a third row it’s more than functional enough but we’re in the era…
Those manual forester XTs command quite a premium these days. I found one listed locally recently when I was in the market for a new ride, was gone within the day for crazy money. Same for clean bug/hawk-eye WRXes. Outback XTs can be had pretty cheaply but usually don’t have the maintenance history of their more…
Man those cars were superb. I had an 04 Forester xt 5 speed and loved that thing too. Even Subaru doesn't make a manual/turbo wagon or hatch anymore. Sad times!
Preaching to the choir. This is how we’ll most likely end up with an Outback to replace our soul-sucking Crosstrek as our family outgrows it. I wish there were more practical yet affordable options (even if not entirely reliable) - like my old Legacy GT wagon:
It really is gorgeous. (The new V60 and also the new v90) . Maybe I don’t need the sporty handling on my family car. 99.9% of the driving I do with our daily driver is either around town light to light or on straight highways. It is quite rare that I get to push my staggered sport tires close to their lateral limits.…
You know what would end up happening.
“Just confirmed BMW making special version of 3 series for America. Not sporty and comes with 15 cupholders. Big win! Overrated Porsche is next. America wants crossovers!”
I’m out in LA (which, much like the tri-state area, has a ton of BMWs in general), and I also see BMW wagons everywhere I go. I definitely see more BMW wagons than VW Jetta/Golf wagons, which surprises me a bit, since the VWs are at a more accessible price point. (Although obviously a good bit of the used VWs were…
Your concerns are probably accurate – wouldn’t expect the Volvo to be anywhere near as nimble as even an automatic 4 pot Bimmer. But BMW has decided to not even show up to the fight – and quite honestly, good for Volvo. That new V60 is an awfully beautiful wagon.
I’m pretty sure the F31 was only ever offered in AWD with an automatic. The only choice was between gas and diesel 4cyl variants .
You’ll see them in predominately wealthy neighborhoods/suburbs. I’ve seen a good amount in the NE, and they’re pretty popular around where I live (McLean/Great Falls, VA).
yeah it must be a neighborhood thing... In my little town on Long Island’s north shore, there are half a dozen F31 wagons. Wagons overall are popular in my neighborhood. Sure not as much as SUVs or sedans, but people still buy them. I have a feeling their buyers are like me, and they wouldn’t have any other type of…
Too bad, the most fun car I’ve owned. Very happy with my fully loaded 2015 328i xDrive. Just passed 45,500 care free miles. Runs fast and dependable and handles better than any of the crossovers plus has more room. Only complaint, the key fob remote won’t close the hatch.
Yup was going to say compared to the E46 wagons I felt like the E91s were far more prevalent (less rare with RWD and 6MT I know), and the F31s are all over the place in well to do areas (Portland, OR here). If anything I would’ve thought European wagons are making a pretty niche comeback with the V60, Audi Allroad…
I drive a manual E39 wagon. There are at least... 1200 of us. I think.
Finally! A political platform that cares about MY issues!
tons of them in Saratoga Springs NY, that or the yuppies do a lot of driving lol.
I must be in the one area that buys all those wagons. There’s dozens of them and the Mercedes equivalent all over the road by me. (Suburbs, NYC)
I suggest we impose a 25% Tariff on all German sports sedans that no longer offer manuals and/or wagon variants for the US market.
