“Dude, a person I don’t know, don’t know the name of and don’t know where she works sent me an email about a meeting so obviously I have to go! Duh!”
“Dude, a person I don’t know, don’t know the name of and don’t know where she works sent me an email about a meeting so obviously I have to go! Duh!”
As someone who gets upwards of 100 emails a day at work, let me just say...
If I’m circling LaGuardia.....
I’m still trying to figure out why people watch The Big Bang Theory...
There’s a difference between dismissing something that is widely known as quite popular but which you do not also like, and being legitimately surprised that something is popular.
Call me crazy but “hey, we didn’t get screwed in 1984, maybe we can do it twice? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯” seems to me like a bad reason to bid on the Olympics.
You’ve already lost. Just write the note to yourself and stop digging your dumb hole even deeper.
I’ll rephrase: “but if you seriously don’t think that the threat of being knocked unconscious is more mentally taxing than missing a curveball, you’ve never been in a fight in your life.”
“Boxing. nah. Not even close.”
I couldn’t possibly disagree more. Baseball? What the hell are you talking about? A game where you have a bunch of teammates, only bat once every few innings, and only occasionally have a ball hit to you? That’s more mentally grueling than standing in a ring with somebody trying to beat the shit out of you for 12…
Do not besmirch the name of Raymond.
To you, sure. You don’t understand any of the sports you’ve mentioned. But to most adults, yes, boxing and tennis are both far more taxing mentally than baseball. You make an error in baseball, 8 other players have your back. You make an out 66% of the time even if you’re an amazing player. Make an error in the ring?…
I refuse to believe that life as a center fielder is mentally grueling. If it was so mentally grueling, why do they play the longest season of any big 4 sports?
I’m with Laura. Baseball, you have teammates to help. Golf is close, but there’s no direct opponent, only the course. Both let you get coaching and counseling during the competition. In tennis, you are alone with your demons. If you happen to be facing a player who has beaten you a few times recently...
CBS’s viewership skews pretty old. Much older than your average Deadspinner. Older people have shitty taste in things
Aaand, you’d be wrong on both counts. I mean, fucking boxing has either of those two beat, easy. But tennis is a series of matches over a number of days against all kinds of opponents. Golf is a nice walk, ruined. John Daly made money playing golf. It’s not an easy game to play well, but it doesn’t compare to the…
I, for one, am looking forward to 500 Days of Kevin.
It’s like there’s a whole country of flyover states. Besides, do you think the average fan at Camden Yards doesn’t watch this sort of thing?
People not only watch the show, but they’ll talk to you about it under the assumption that you’re quite familiar with it.
