If you’re planning to spend the next ~3 years saving money for a down on a house, where’s a good place to put that money?

I have a south philly rowhouse that is drywall over plaster over brick. Any advice for hanging floating shelves?
I’m wondering how the math works out if you’ve got an FHA mortgage and you are paying PMI each month?
I also use dish soap rather than hand soap after cutting/prepping hot peppers. My (limited) understanding is that the detergent in the dish soap is able to get rid of the oil-soluble capsaicin better than regular hand soap. I could totally be wrong about that though.
Have you all covered debt management plans? I signed up for one through the non-profit Greenpath, who negotiated a plan with my CC companies on my behalf.
I went from and average APR of ~17% to an average of ~6%. I also went from paying $1283 per month with only $613 going to principle to paying $1122 per month and…
1. Cook 8 oz of dried beans in the instant pot for 1 hour with some smoked pork product and a big spoonful of beef BTB. A smoked ham hock should work nicely, although I usually use some leftover homemade smoked pork butt. This product is typically leftover from the night before.
I had this idea when I was young to develop a universal chip/dip index, to match chips and dips so that you wouldn’t break your chip going in for some dip. To create the index, you would start by measuring the tensile strength of each chip, and the viscosity of each dip. Then you would assign each type of chip and dip…
As a guy who does online dating I try not to be an asshole. I'd kinda like to take that a step further, like abide by some sort of code of conduct. Does this sort of thing already exist? It would be cool to have someone like Jezebel curate and sanction such a list, so that I could say, "hey, I follow the Jezebel code…
I basically bought two funnels, a plastic one and a metal one. I then cut them both so that the filter would fit. Next I screwed the plastic one to the cork in the wine bottle. The metal funnel is loose, so that I can take it out and wash it.
Poor man's chemex.
I love the taste of pour over chemex coffee, but those vases are super fragile (and expensive). I wanted a cheaper and more durable product, so I cut the bottom off of a plastic funnel and screwed it to the cork of a wine bottle. I then filled the bottle with water (for weight) and put the cork in. Finally, I added a…
Everybody thinks they're ugly, eh? I can live with that.
Not too bad, but I'm sure that someone with discerning tastes would be better served by the real thing (or maybe not).
There's a little extra weight, and the center of gravity is a little different, but it's not super noticeable.
I wouldn't bother, but if you're in Beijing, head to the Silk Road market.
I like the scoops. They provide a convenient place to wind the cable. :-)
Theft deterrent?
Thanks! The spoons are actually not that heavy. It's a little lopsided, but otherwise I like it.
Thanks! I had a flight attendant what the spoons were for, but I think she was mostly curious.
