I hoped so. I've never been to the Boston Marathon but I thought maybe they had some kind of redundancy put in place with the bibs. It sounded like the bib purchaser did not have an issue with her time but found these yahoos in her pictures.

You are right. There are systems that embed it into the bib as well as systems that have a shoe pod.

Ok. But Boston is the culmination of a lot of hard work. Multiple marathons, hundreds of miles. A shit ton of money and time. And that's IF you don't have to drop time to qualify. If I do all that, I want it recorded. Anyway, in my circles, the BM is holy. Going rogue doesn't count.

The fake bibs can screw up the timing system. Computerized systems don't like more than one bib number existing. However, I'm assuming that these bibs were not chipped. That is why the Original 4285 was able to get her time online. So they may be dead bibs.
