Batteries are expensive and EVs are not yet profitable. The Bolt is dorky looking but a subcompact is all they could do. They can’t sell emissions credits to other companies like Tesla can to barely turn a profit.

Just compare Jeep’s effort, above, to the Hummer EV (which, admittedly, is not body-on-frame, but nonetheless is clearly EV-focused):

They’re not trying to attract younger buyers. People that were teens and young adults when the movie came out are the target audience for a luxury EV SUV.

Ford has one competitive EV (Mach-E), and the Transit is an ICE van converted to EV with a dismal 126 miles of range. Ford is spending $29 billion over the next 5 years and basically just getting started compared to GM.

Its also missing the forward facing sensor so it isn’t able to detect vehicles ahead.
