Agreed completely, my complaint is that the media (and AVClub included) have taken the vocal minority and raised them to a ISIS/Donald Trump supporter level of terrorism for no other reason than to drive clicks.
go back and look at he "No Organic Web spinners" movement that came from the first Spiderman movie, or go over to AICN and check out the death threats against Micheal bay every time he foists a Transformers or Ninja Turtles movie on us.

I disagree, I think the majority of folks just see a crappy, ill advised remake of an 80s film and the media can't help but report on the few screaming idiots because, y'know, social media idiots counts as a news source now.
