@lurkerbynature: Well in fairness to the driver and dublinbus, it was snowing when he said that, and it did look bad at the time. I think they're just going to stop every time it snows to be honest. I can never hate dublin bus as much as I hate iarnroid eireann, they are the biggest liars of all time!

@EmpressZombie: I'm not implying that the UK has the only problem with immigration in Europe. I'm not even from the UK, I live in Ireland. I do think however, that the UK is an endpoint destination for a lot of immigrants, the Jungle in Calais is testament to this. As to people drowning trying to reach Spain, sadly

@lurkerbynature: I know! It's awful isn't it? That's the bad part in Ireland, the lack of services to deal with the snow. It doesn't even feel cold, with the lack of wind. BTW if you're relying on buses, a driver told me that they won't run this afternoon if there's any showers so keep a look out. Hopefully the sun

We're not so much weather snobs in Ireland, we just like to laugh at England because their weather is always way worse than ours. Then we beg them for some grit, because ours ran out.

@MonkeyBearDog: My god, that's horrible. It's awful that video footage of that is available, and that some people (I don't mean you), will watch it for kicks. The whole situation is so messed up. I feel very sorry for her family having to deal with all the press attention on top of the grief of her death.

Damn them, all cute and warm, and tanned, and warm. Quit mocking me Drew!

@hortense: Thanks! I had no idea you could do that.

Didn't her mother ever tell her not to have her hair in her eyes?

I think this further substantiates the fuggirls theory that the wardrobe staff of gossip girl hate Blake Lively.

@HBIC!: I used to think like that, but I think that you would get a proportionally greater increases in benefit-seeking immigration if that occurred. I think VISA requirements for working should be relaxed though, so people who just want an opportunity to further themselves in another country be allowed. Then after a

How did sympathyforthebasementcat not get a comment of the day? Her rogue comment in the Palin thread was excellent.

@Dauphine: I like special K in Ireland too. Maybe we just have superior special K here.

@HBIC!: I know, but a lot of immigrants come to the UK rather than other EU countries due to the benefit system. It's a more attractive proposition. I don't mean to sound racist, because i'm not, but the reality is a lot of immigration is tailored to the countries that offer the best deal and UK citizens are

She has good fodder this week. She can decry snowmen. They tick all the boxes, they are rotund, jolly, always have a happy smile on their face. They love children and children love them too. The good ones are always taken. They probably ruin the view from her country house. Liz hates all these things. Yes, this week

So I take it you're suing the Daily Fail for theft of intellectual property Jezebel.

@Copper: I guess, but I think the issue is more complicated in the UK than in the US. They have a very generous social welfare system, which makes it a very attractive country for immigrants. Immigration really is a huge drain on the NHS.

@msridiculous447: Oh I was being simplistic, I know, but it's just infuriating how African nations are portrayed as charity cases, when logically how could they be succesful. Unfair trade laws and tariffs prevent them exploiting their natural resources. Indigenous industries are stymied due to lack of available credit

I was so disappointed to discover this wasn't real.

@msridiculous447: That would make sense, but Ghana's inflation rate is ~20%. Interest rates don't need to be 70% to cover that. I'm sure they are still getting their pound of flesh.

@Blueberry26: Thank you, I'll definitely read that book. I love reading about economics and banking. I wish more people understood how the World Bank and the IMF are screwing the world.
