I think the interesting thing with GoT is that the creative directors could latch onto “this is a love letter to Kurosawa” as part of their pitch. Attaching things to a foreign cultural touchstone to draw out all of that cultural appreciation goes a long way to delivering authenticity... and having that cultural…
