The GOP is making a strong argument for public guillotining here.

The “adult in the room,” everyone.

Trump supporters seem to be textbook examples of the Dunning-Kruger effect. They’re not intelligent or well-informed enough to recognise how dumb and ignorant they actually are.

Bertrand Russell was a legend. His only failing was that he didn’t offer visitors a cup of tea, because he couldn’t find his teapot.

Those particular people cannot be reached - they do not want to be reached. The best thing to do is ignore them, stop trying to find ways to connect with them (because that only results in having to steer closer to the alt-right) and focus on issues. We can hope that they finally recognise their mistake through the

Clinton got flayed for calling them deplorable. She was being far too kind. Irredeemable? Unreachable? Unsalvageable? The political conversation has been hijacked by subhumans who freely admit they don’t follow politics.

It’s hard to read all that stuff about the NFL and not conclude that they’re just mad about black men having money and opinions.

This is terrible. The deliberate misinformation pumped out by Fox, to people who don’t question it and in fact adopt it. How are we going to turn this around? Because it needs to change.

It’s because of these assholes that I have an 18% tax on my booze. F Johnstown.

I started reading this early today and honestly didn’t complete it. Those hateful fools made me sick to my stomach. You’re correct. The Dems shouldn’t bother with reaching out to them. Those Trump cult-members would rather rot in hatred than help themselves.

I do not want to share an allegiance with White Hate sympathizers or those that think their whiteness means that they got first and I follow. And I am growing really fucking weary of having white democrats tell me that I have to.

Fuck those people. They make me ashamed to admit that I live in Pennsylvania. This is why it’s rightfully called Pennsyltucky. And I’m sick of paying 18% tax, which you then pay sales tax on, for a bottle of liquor because of a flood.

I read that this morning and was sickened. I thought the very end pretty much summed up what his base cares about. Cause as they themselves stated in the interviews, it sure isn’t policy.

It is willful ignorance. They like the way they feel when they buy into the bullshit, so even though they could face reality, they keep listening to more bullshit.

I’ve seen that. There are times where that’s the only appropriate response. You can’t engage with people whose entire worldview is based on a rejection of what you want to engage them for.

It is quite stunning the alternate universe these people live in

I ran across this Bertrand Russell letter today via Brain Pickings. I think it sums up the only attitude I can take with Trump Supporters anymore:

If you can stomach it, this Politico piece on how Trump’s base in PA feels about him now is worth reading just to illustrate how disconnected from reality these people are. It’s worse than even the caricatures of them suggest. There are plenty of jaw-dropping passages, but this one jumped out at me.

Nothing in weeks has made me laugh as hard as this delirious monologue. I can’t believe that the entire planet isn’t watching this show with rapt attention.

Stephen Miller is smiling in that photo because he finally got to touch a girl.
