One of the top songs in the country right now is such an egregious example of this. Bieber’s “Sorry” is almost a parody of itself. He admits to making the same mistakes over and over again, with no intention to stop, and asks forgiveness without any promise to change.

I think part of that, though, might have had to do with Lucas’ directorial style. He thought he could fix everything with FX, and you can see him trying in places. He’d splice together takes and CGI faces to show emotions that weren’t there.
